Sweet Day

August 22, 2008 · 2 Comments

The kids and I languished in the hot sun at Ulster county pool for the day then met Pete for Mini-Golf (and I actually won!) Then we had a delicious dinner at Neko’s …

Surprise Deer at Beach

August 19, 2008 · No Comments

Just as we pulled out of the parking lot at the beach, Tuesday, there were several deer eating the grass. You just don’t see this in Oregon!

We played frisbee and Pete boogie boarded. Late in the afternoon it got very windy.

Wild Bouquets 2

More luscious wild flowers bouquets. I’m sure I’d pay a fortune for in a shop. (If you could even find such stuff.)

A Business Endeavor

August 9, 2008 · No Comments

Sophie’s friend Britney held a fundraiser to stop a nasty development, “Crossroads” in New Paltz, and sold handmade tiles and photos of the Shawagunk Mountains. We visited for tea and fun.

Oh! And you could get your picture taken with the doggies in pirate costume. Perhaps I’ll add a photo later–at an added cost, of course! *grins*

Dave & Buster’s at a Very Big Mall

August 3, 2008 · 1 Comment

Pete took us on a mystery drive. We found out it was to see Batman at IMAX! But then it was all sold out! On a Monday! Well, it was its first weekend and it was (Lord rest his soul) Heath Ledger after all, his last movie… So we went to Dave & Buster’s for fun instead. Pete always saves some tokens for the end when the kids have run out. Sophie ended up with a card with about 1000 extra on it for next time!

So, BTW, the next day we came all the way back and got into see Batman!! I thought it was great. Soph’s favorite was the Joker–so sad about Ledger. And both Pete and Zeke the experts, felt it was good but wasn’t that great.

Raining, Ahhh

July 24, 2008 · No Comments

Time for a little weather reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest. It’s not quite as warm and humid with the rain this morning. It’s kind of nice. We got the house all caught up yesterday and got the kids back on track as far as exercised, watered and off the media-grid. :-)

Same for us I suppose. I got my work-out in after a day of lack of sleep when the doggies figured out how to open their hotel in the night and get loose. This was the second time, at least, that they made their break and found lots to amuse themselves with while the rest of the household slept. Including crawling into bed with Sophia and waking her.

She woke us.

Seems the pups needed a bath and weren’t too pleasant to sleep with. At that point we were basically, except Zeke, all wide awake! After we got them settled down again, Petie using a wire to secure the zipper door they had learned to open, and were trying to get back to sleep, I realized I had class the next morning.

For some reason I had been in summer-mode. Possibly the trip to the beach last week. So I hadn’t studied anything for the quiz. It was a low-key quiz and I did from medium to poorly without studying and little sleep. But I got home and basically snored the rest of the hot day away upstairs.

Needless to say there was much to do the following day as Pete had set up our new kitchen-nook table and everything just sort of, well, sat where it lay. LOL.

Anyway, today is cream as yesterday the dogs were bathed by dear Sophie, the counters all got cleared. Zekie put away all the clean dishes. We got all the trash and recycling out (thanks Zeke), floors done (the vacuum situation is another story) laundry basically caught up on etc etc and so there you go, today is a little or a lot more fun!

Behind on grocery shopping (unbelievably with how large a trip we recently took. Twice. lol) I plan to take the kids out for a scone this a.m. as a different change of pace.

The summer is going good. And we are about halfway into our time together with Zeke and Sophie here. We miss Allen and it sounds like he won’t be here until the last week of August. The kids get to stay through the first part of September. So there will be some overlap time with all the kids together. We are planning a Statue of Liberty excursion.

The rain, and the fact that I had a very nutritious sushi meal for dinner with a friend I’ve known as writers for three years, gave me much energy for my workout this morning. And subsequently much stamina for this lengthy posting.
