Raining, Ahhh

July 24, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Time for a little weather reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest. It’s not quite as warm and humid with the rain this morning. It’s kind of nice. We got the house all caught up yesterday and got the kids back on track as far as exercised, watered and off the media-grid. :-)

Same for us I suppose. I got my work-out in after a day of lack of sleep when the doggies figured out how to open their hotel in the night and get loose. This was the second time, at least, that they made their break and found lots to amuse themselves with while the rest of the household slept. Including crawling into bed with Sophia and waking her.

She woke us.

Seems the pups needed a bath and weren’t too pleasant to sleep with. At that point we were basically, except Zeke, all wide awake! After we got them settled down again, Petie using a wire to secure the zipper door they had learned to open, and were trying to get back to sleep, I realized I had class the next morning.

For some reason I had been in summer-mode. Possibly the trip to the beach last week. So I hadn’t studied anything for the quiz. It was a low-key quiz and I did from medium to poorly without studying and little sleep. But I got home and basically snored the rest of the hot day away upstairs.

Needless to say there was much to do the following day as Pete had set up our new kitchen-nook table and everything just sort of, well, sat where it lay. LOL.

Anyway, today is cream as yesterday the dogs were bathed by dear Sophie, the counters all got cleared. Zekie put away all the clean dishes. We got all the trash and recycling out (thanks Zeke), floors done (the vacuum situation is another story) laundry basically caught up on etc etc and so there you go, today is a little or a lot more fun!

Behind on grocery shopping (unbelievably with how large a trip we recently took. Twice. lol) I plan to take the kids out for a scone this a.m. as a different change of pace.

The summer is going good. And we are about halfway into our time together with Zeke and Sophie here. We miss Allen and it sounds like he won’t be here until the last week of August. The kids get to stay through the first part of September. So there will be some overlap time with all the kids together. We are planning a Statue of Liberty excursion.

The rain, and the fact that I had a very nutritious sushi meal for dinner with a friend I’ve known as writers for three years, gave me much energy for my workout this morning. And subsequently much stamina for this lengthy posting.

The People Fund Obama Campaign!

So glad to hear Obama did well financially in June. We just couldn’t donate this time with all we have going on and I was worried. We will have another chance in September. I have an Obama blog that I haven’t much kept up with but here’s the link.

castle, huguenot street, community gardens

July 13, 2008 · Leave a Comment

When we went to our usual pool outing, the pool was closed for competitions.

Soooo … we were left to what Mom likes most sometimes, perusing, meandering, intuitively turning the wheel. So first we were let in at the gate of Mohonk Mountain House. The magical grounds full of little tree houses and picnic spots, flower gardens historic barns, horses and golf courses, mini-golf on grass so smooth Soph had to reach down and pet it–walking inside rock crevices after gazing at the water filled with rowboats and swimmers in the unlikely spot at the top of a mountain!

Along Huguenot street we stopped to picnic. First we read this sign about the African-American burial grounds and took a short tour of homes built over 280 years ago!

Next, we stopped at New Paltz hippy-style community garden for short gander. It sits along the Wallkill River.

I love red poppies.

Joy, Chris, Waniso and Sekai Visit

July 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The house is neat as a pin. Lasagna waits foil-covered in the fridge. Flowers exude their blueish daisy charms. What is the occasion?

Joy and Chris, Waniso and Sekai are coming!!

Candles, seltzer water, laughter, political pontification. All this amidst snuggling puppies, trampolining darlings and cocoa krispy organics. Last but not least craniosacral happenings!

The property itself feels different. Already filled with love, the home and land seem softer, more pliable, vibrating with anticipation of all that it holds and all coming our way. Family, joy, abundance and giving, healing and creating. All this from the powerful bonds of a lifetime.

Pictures next time.

Daughter

We made la-zag-nee together. (lasagna) Daughter is the absolute cook. She made the sauce and adjusted the flavors. She adjusted the flavors of the filling as well. It was the best our guests say they have tasted.

Yes, our guests! We had Joy and Chris, Waniso and Sekai!
I forgot to take pictures so we’ll have to next time.

We also made Cocoa Krispy Truffles with 100% cocoa powder, muscovado sugar and butter. Yum. With whole brown rice crispies stirred in.

Pics are blurry but ya gotta have ‘em. Hey.
